"Since the beginning of 2003, I've had a 100% success rate in the treatment of all types of acne on scores of patients by Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is one of my favorite conditions to treat." Dr. Karen Kurtak said.
The term "Chinese Medicine" refers to a number of practices, especially acupuncture, prescription of herbal formulas and nutritional recommendations. Their theoretical basis has been developed in China for about 2,500 years and the basic treatment principle for acne in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is to clear Heat from the body and restore the balance to the body.
Unlike conventional medical treatment TCM uses herbs and acupuncture, provides a system of diagnosis to identify and treat the root of the problem. In Chinese Medicine the causes of disease can come both from external and internal factors. Despite the fact that acne manifests on the skin, it is a condition that originates within the body. So acne refers to an external manifestation resulting from internal imbalance.
Chinese Medicine perceives that acne may be caused by five groups of factors: Lung Heat; Stomach Heat; Toxic Heat; Blood Heat and Damp Heat. Acupuncture treatment for acne involves both distal and local points and needles are placed superficially about one inch apart to surround the area where the acne is present and retained for about 20 minutes.
With a combination of Chinese herbal medicine and food cures, it will be more effective. Chinese physicians consider acne to be as a result of the environmental force of heat. In Chinese herbal therapy, combinations of herbs are chosen by Chinese physicians to reestablish the balance of Yin (female) and Yang (male) and clear the Heat of the body, returning the body to a healthy state.
Some foods are recommended as a skin improving diet to help alleviate acne. Between them avocado oil, wheat germ and almond oil, apple juice, peach juice, oatmeal and brewer's yeast are well known and accepted " skin enhancers". Drinking plenty of water helps too.
Using acupuncture, herbs and nutrition, Chinese Medicine treats the root cause of acne along with any other imbalances, so the body becomes healthier.
